Basketball Recap: Plumas Charter Skates Past Burney with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Plumas Charter). They breezed by the Burney Raiders to the tune of 86-36 on Thursday. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Plumas Charter was led to victory by Dalton Bentz and Owen Joseph. Bentz shot 7-for-11 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 35 points and 11 boards, while Joseph went 10 of 17 on his way to 27 points along with eight assists and five steals. Joseph's afternoon made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Adin Lunder, who posted eight points and five boards.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Plumas Charter was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Despite the defeat, Burney saw an underclassman step up: sophomore James Fields almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards. That was a full 47.2% of Burney's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points.

The victory was the sixth in a row for Plumas Charter, bringing their record for this year to 6-1. As for Burney, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

Plumas Charter didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 101-49 win against Herlong on the 13th. As for Burney, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 45-21 defeat against Chester on the 13th.
