Basketball Recap: Clear Creek Takes a Loss

Clear Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 20th straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Lyons Lions 55-16. The Golddiggers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Lions from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Mia Primus and Zoe Carreon certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Primus posted six points, while Carreon earned six points. The dominant performance gave Carreon a new career-high in points.

It was another big night for Ava Vasquez, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds for Lyons. Vasquez is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down ten or more in each of the last 14 games she's played. Gretta Wynja was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds.

Clear Creek's loss dropped their record down to 0-19. As for Lyons, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-6.

Looking ahead, Clear Creek will take on Dawson School at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lyons, they will take on Bishop Machebeuf in a tournament on Tuesday.
