Softball Recap: Sonoma Valley Takes a Loss

If Sonoma Valley was feeling good fresh off their 11-5 takedown of Napa last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Dragons came up short against the Rancho Cotate Cougars on Monday, falling 14-4. The Dragons were not able to make up for their loss to the Cougars from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

Katherine Kiser made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Sonoma Valley has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Rancho Cotate, their record is now 6-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sonoma Valley will head out to challenge Justin-Siena at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Dragons are facing the Braves at the right time seeing as the Braves are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Rancho Cotate, they will venture away from home to square off against Windsor at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Jaguars have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season.
