Softball Recap: Century Has No Trouble Against Grant

After only one run in their last match, Century made sure to put some runs up on the board against Grant on Tuesday. The Jaguars put the hurt on the Generals with a sharp 15-3 win. The Jaguars have beaten the Generals the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Generals has come to flipping the script.

Michelle Katke was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, Avery Gonzalez was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. She also put up a hit, which was her first of the season. Hailey Kinney was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

The victory got Century back to even at 3-3. As for Grant, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Century will venture away from home to face off against South Albany at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Redhawks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12 runs per game on average), something the Jaguars will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Grant, they will head out on the road to take on Cleveland at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
