Baseball Recap: Cypress Creek Victorious

Cypress Creek lost to Lecanto on March 6th, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. Cypress Creek won by a run and slipped past Lecanto 6-5.

Cypress Creek got a great performance from Colin McGee as he struck out 12 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. McGee has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Gavyn Mullis was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Braden Rankin also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Cypress Creek now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Lecanto, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-14.

Coming up, Cypress Creek will face off against Hudson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lecanto, they will host Nature Coast Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
