Baseball Game Preview: Overlake Owls vs. King's Knights

The Overlake Owls will venture away from home to square off against the King's Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Overlake 2.6, King's 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Overlake made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Sultan, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Owls were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Turks on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Owls sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Meanwhile, King's started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Shorecrest. They fell just short of the Scots by a score of 8-7 last Saturday. The defeat continues a trend for the Knights in their meetings with the Scots: they've now lost three in a row.

King's saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jakob Fowler, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3. Fowler also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Brandon McCann was another, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Overlake pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for King's, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.

Overlake skirted past King's 4-3 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Owls repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
