Game recap: Mentor High School Football Team defeats Brunswick

MENTOR, Ohio - Conner Krizancic threw three touchdowns and ran for two more as Mentor (Ohio) bested Brunswick (Ohio) 45-3 on Saturday.

After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Krizancic in the first quarter, the Cardinals led 14-3 at the half.

Mentor expanded its lead to 21 points entering the fourth quarter. MHS scored two times in the third, including once on a field goal by Mike Muzic.

With the win the Cardinals extended their winning streak to five games. Mentor defeated Shaker Heights 56-14 last week.

The Blue Devils came in surrendering 17.5 points per game this season. Brunswick had a hard time against Mentor's offense, which entered the game scoring 39.2 points per game. MHS came in allowing an average of 18.8 points per game this season. The defense really stepped up, holding BHS well below its season average of 35.7 points scored per game.



The loss comes after Brunswick defeated Elyria 40-35 last week. The loss ended Brunswick's two-game winning streak.

Mentor (6-1) will play a Northeast Ohio - Valley game against Solon next week, while Brunswick (4-3) will take on Twinsburg also in a Northeast Ohio - Valley game.
