Baseball Recap: Hannibal Takes a Loss

If Hannibal was feeling good fresh off their 7-1 takedown of Wright City last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pirates fell 5-2 to the Moberly Spartans on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Waylon Anders put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Anders was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.

Anders wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brody Wilson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Wilson is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Hannibal's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Moberly, the win keeps they at an undefeated 7-0.

Looking ahead, Hannibal will square off against Elsberry at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Pirates are facing the Indians at the right time seeing as the Indians are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Moberly, they will challenge Boonville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
