Recap: Red Bluff Spartans vs. Chico Panthers
The Red Bluff Spartans suffered their biggest defeat since December 12, 2023 on Thursday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 67-41 walloping at the hands of Chico. Red Bluff has struggled against Chico recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Red Bluff's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marcos Torres, who scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayden Leaf, who scored eight points along with five steals.
Red Bluff struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Chico racked up 12 assists.
Magnus Nielsen continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Chico, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Nielsen has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Adam Brott, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Red Bluff's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Chico, their win bumped their record up to 12-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Red Bluff will take on Enterprise at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Enterprise presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Red Bluff in California (Enterprise is ranked 226th, while Red Bluff is ranked 808th). As for Chico, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Foothill at 7:30 p.m. Foothill is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
