Basketball Recap: Claiborne Christian Comes Up Short

Claiborne Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 62-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gibsland-Coleman Bulldogs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Crusaders of the 52-42 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Samora Sampson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Gibsland-Coleman, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 15 boards. Sampson's evening made it ten games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Jordan Allen was another key player, going 5 for 11 on her way to 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Claiborne Christian's loss dropped their record down to 15-11. As for Gibsland-Coleman, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Claiborne Christian will head out to face off against D'Arbonne Woods at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Claiborne Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Gibsland-Coleman has already played their next game (against Saline), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
