Baseball Game Preview: Coronado Dons vs. Maryvale Panthers

The Coronado Dons will head out to take on the Maryvale Panthers at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Maryvale took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Coronado, who comes in off a win.

Coronado barely beat Tempe the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Dons blew past the Buffaloes 20-10 on Thursday. The Dons' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Maryvale came up short against Browne on Thursday, falling 10-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Bruins: they've now lost seven in a row.

Maryvale saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nathan Benavidez, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Maryvale's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Coronado, their win ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-13.

Coronado might still be hurting after the 17-7 defeat they got from Maryvale in their previous matchup back in February of 2017. Can the Dons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
