Baseball Recap: Henrietta Comes Up Short

Henrietta came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 12-4 to the Grand Saline Indians. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bearcats of the 9-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2021.

Pate Cody made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Mayfield, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI.

Henrietta has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. The win was the sixth in a row for Grand Saline, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.

Henrietta will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Holliday at 7:00 p.m. on March 18th. As for Grand Saline, they will challenge Childress at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Grand Saline's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Childress' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
