Basketball Recap: Johnny Mccray's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Skyline over Frederick

Skyline was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Frederick Golden Eagles, falling 70-50. The Falcons were not able to make up for their defeat to the Golden Eagles from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Johnny McCray, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 15 points and five boards. The dominant performance gave McCray a new career-high in points. Wyatt Rickman was another key player, putting up 13 points and eight rebounds.

Olly Justice continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Frederick, going 5 for 11 en route to 20 points along with six boards and three blocks. Justice is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Zach Burton, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 15 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists.

Skyline now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Frederick, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-4.

Skyline wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 68-42 loss against Legacy on the 13th. Frederick has also already played their next match, a 62-58 defeat against Broomfield on the 14th.
