Basketball Recap: Trayiona Maxfield's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Scott's Branch over Kingstree

Scott's Branch was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 40-37 heartbreaker at the hands of the Kingstree Blazers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Eagles have suffered since December 12, 2023.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Trayiona Maxfield, who posted ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Siara Lundy, who had ten points and seven rebounds.

Kingstree's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Naydia Shaw, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Shaw is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kylee Kelty, who earned five points and seven rebounds.

Scott's Branch's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Kingstree, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-2.

Scott's Branch wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 57-36 defeat against Crestwood on the 26th. As for Kingstree, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 38-27 win against Socastee on the 2nd.
