Basketball Recap: East Surry Takes a Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, East Surry couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They were dealt a 67-37 defeat at the hands of the Forest Hills Yellow Jackets on Friday.

East Surry's loss came despite strong showings from Maggy Sechrist and Addison Green. Sechrist dropped a double-double with ten points and 16 rebounds, while Green dropped a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance also gave Sechrist a new career-high in blocks (three).

Even though they lost, East Surry smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive contests.

Forest Hills' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Derrianna Mclendon, who almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Azariya Griffin, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds.

East Surry's loss dropped their record down to 22-7. As for Forest Hills, their win was their 15th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 25-3.

East Surry does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Forest Hills, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 55-54 victory against Bandys on the 4th.
