Softball Game Preview: Melrose Red Raiders vs. Burlington Red Devils

Melrose hasn't had much luck against Burlington recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Red Raiders will challenge the Red Devils at 4:15 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Melrose's last matchup with Saugus could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Monday. The Red Raiders lost 24-15 to the Sachems.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Burlington and Lexington meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Red Devils came up short against the Minutemen, falling 12-1.

Melrose's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Burlington, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Melrose suffered a grim 17-1 defeat to Burlington in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Red Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
