League recap: Norman North extends winning streak with victory over Moore

Norman North extended the longest winning streak in 6A District 3 this week by beating Moore, 54-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.

Yukon took down Grant 61-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Jarvis Jackson was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 24 carries, he ran for 127 yards as Eisenhower lost to Putnam City North. Teammate Shannon Coleman added to the ground attack by rushing for 30 yards.

Peyton Gavras put up the best numbers through the air as Norman North beat the Lions. He finished with nine completions for 173 yards and four touchdowns. Gavras' favorite target this week was Garrett Verble, who caught two passes for 58 yards.

Alexander was the best wideout in the league this week as the Eagles fell to the Panthers. Alexander tallied four receptions for 59 yards. Julio Santiago helped Eisenhower's passing attack out by catching two balls for 40 yards.

Wade Standley's team's Gavras and Jake Higginbotham have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 6A District 3 in both passing and receiving yards. Gavras has thrown for 2082 yards this season, while Higginbotham, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 28 catches for 708 yards. Jackson from Eisenhower leads the league in rushing with 633 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Millers take on Putnam City North. As it stands, Yukon is in fourth, while Bob Wilson's team is in third.

Moore made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,683 from 6,886. The improvement was the result of 54-0 victory over the Lions last week.
