Softball Game Preview: Hermitage Panthers vs. Godwin Eagles

Hermitage hasn't had much luck against Godwin recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Panthers will look to defend their home field against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Hermitage had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt James River Midlothian on Friday. The Panthers blew past the Rapids 17-5. Considering the Panthers have won three matchups by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Godwin beat Prince George 6-2 on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Royals: they've now won four in a row.

Lila Palmer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on 14 hits.

On the hitting side, Godwin got a big performance out of Mackenzie White, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Adelynn Collins, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

The victory got Hermitage back to even at 5-5. As for Godwin, their win bumped their record up to 8-4.
