Softball Recap: Ocosta Beats Wahkiakum for Their Third Straight Win

Ocosta entered their tilt with Wahkiakum on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Mules 14-2. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 16-1 victory last Friday.

Joanah Rosander was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs.

In other batting news, Jolissa Schlegel was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Elly Mirante was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Ocosta always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wahkiakum only posted an OBP of .208.

Ocosta's record is now 5-3. As for Wahkiakum, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ocosta will take on Oakville at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wahkiakum, they will venture away from home to square off against Ilwaco at 4:00 p.m. on May 6.
