League recap: Prestonwood Christian tops Bishop Dunne to extend winning streak

TAPPS Division I District 1 recap Oct. 9, 2012

Prestonwood Christian extended the longest winning streak in TAPPS Division I District 1 this week by beating Bishop Dunne, 41-13. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Lions.

The Falcons moved up to 610 from 680 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 41-13 win over Bishop Dunne helped Bishop Dunne improve its standing.

Prestonwood Christian's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Mickey Mitchell threw for 172 and three touchdowns and Michael Irvin had 53 yards receiving. On the ground Mitchell chipped in 82 yards. Grayson Warren helped Prestonwood Christian's passing attack out by catching three balls for 46 yards.

Trinity Christian's Daniel Davidson and Nick Plumlee have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Davidson has thrown for 1413 yards this season, while Plumlee, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 35 catches for 449 yards. Mitchell from Chris Cunningham's team leads the league in rushing with 829 yards.

A big matchup in TAPPS Division I District 1 this week will be when the Trojans take on Bishop Lynch. Trinity Christian is currently in fourth, while the Friars are in second.
