Baseball Game Preview: Gloucester City Lions vs. Westampton Tech Panthers

The Gloucester City Lions will head out to square off against the Westampton Tech Panthers at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Gloucester City has struggled recently with five losses in a row, while Westampton Tech will arrive with three straight victories.

On Wednesday, Gloucester City didn't have quite enough to beat Camden County Vo-Tech and fell 4-3.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Westampton Tech). They put the hurt on Pennsauken Tech with a sharp 23-1 win on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Brayden Lawrence made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those runs marked the first that he has scored this season.

In other batting news, Westampton Tech got a massive performance out of Angelo Amicucci, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave Amicucci a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Venetz, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and four RBI.

Westampton Tech always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .707. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Gloucester City's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Westampton Tech, their record now sits at 3-1.
