Softball Recap: Math Science & Engineering Comes Up Short

Math Science & Engineering entered their matchup against Washington on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Math Science & Engineering lost 26-11 to Washington. Math Science & Engineering was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Washington apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Isabella Martinez and Annalie Merkel stepped up to the plate in a big way. Martinez went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs, while Merkel went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Martinez has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last 12 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Clodagh Finucane, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Math Science & Engineering's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Washington, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Math Science & Engineering will host Mott Haven at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Washington, they will challenge Hunter College at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
