Soccer Game Preview: La Porte vs. Mishawaka Marian

The La Porte Slicers will take on the Mishawaka Marian Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

La Porte is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to six goals on Wednesday, they were much more limited against New Prairie on Saturday. They lost 4-1 to the Cougars.

La Porte's goal came courtesy of Abel Owuor, who's now up to 11 this season.

Meanwhile, Mishawaka Marian kept a clean sheet against South Bend Washington on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 9-0 win. Mishawaka Marian haven't had any issues with South Bend Washington recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Mishawaka Marian used a slightly different lineup for their bout with South Bend Washington. Three players got more time on the pitch than they're used to: Jesus Sanchez (30), Mauricio Tochimani (60), and Joel Bello (30). The trio had averaged 12.5, 16.5, and 15 minutes respectively before Thursday's matchup. The pair took full advantage of the opportunity: Sanchez scored two goals, while he scored a goal.

Mishawaka Marian's win bumped their record up to 8-6-2. As for La Porte, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9-2.

La Porte suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Mishawaka Marian in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Slicers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
