Softball Preview: El Dorado Cougars vs. Galt Warriors
El Dorado is 1-9 against Galt since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. El Dorado will head out on the road to take on Galt at 3:30 p.m.
El Dorado is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Rosemont.
Taylor Gagne spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and -1 unearned) runs on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Galt). They put the hurt on Edison with a sharp 15-4 win on Monday. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Zoey Sanchez made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases.
In other batting news, Lexi Maldonado was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Galt's record now sits at 5-8. As for El Dorado, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
