Basketball Game Preview: Buford Yellow Jackets vs. Andrew Jackson Volunteers

Buford hasn't had much luck against Andrew Jackson recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Buford Yellow Jackets will head out on the road to face off against the Andrew Jackson Volunteers at 6:00 p.m.

Buford is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Cheraw on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Buford was outmatched by Cheraw and fell 52-23. The Yellow Jackets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-8.

Meanwhile, Andrew Jackson waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They claimed a resounding 95-16 win over the Patriots. Given the Volunteers' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Patriots are ranked 253rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Andrew Jackson's victory was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-3. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.1 points per game. As for Buford, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.

Buford was dealt a bruising 77-16 loss at the hands of Andrew Jackson in their previous matchup back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Andrew Jackson's Tamia Watkins, who almost dropped a double-double on 27 points and nine rebounds.
