Baseball Game Preview: Seward Bluejays vs. Ralston Rams

The Seward Bluejays will challenge the Ralston Rams at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Seward heads in on the heels of a playoff game on Saturday. They came up short against Bennington, falling 8-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Bluejays have suffered since April 1, 2024.

Seward saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brycen Burt, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Ralston faced Gross Catholic in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Rams fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 3-2. The loss continues a trend for the Rams in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost four in a row.

Brayden Vandervort made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Seward's defeat dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Ralston, their loss dropped their record down to 16-7.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Seward has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Ralston struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
