Basketball Game Preview: Fort Bend Austin Bulldogs vs. Fort Bend Clements Rangers

Fort Bend Austin hasn't had much luck against Fort Bend Clements recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Fort Bend Austin Bulldogs will be home for the holidays to greet the Fort Bend Clements Rangers at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Fort Bend Austin sitting on five straight wins and Fort Bend Clements on three.

Last Wednesday, Fort Bend Austin didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against George Ranch, but they still walked away with a 61-56 victory. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while the Longhorns are ranked 261st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fort Bend Clements). They blew past College Park 78-54 on Saturday.

Fort Bend Clements' win came from a few key players Fort Bend Austin will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Malik Olajuwon, who went 11 of 17 on his way to 25 points. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Aziz Olajuwon, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Fort Bend Clements has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points per game. As for Fort Bend Austin, they pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Fort Bend Austin lost to Fort Bend Clements at home by a decisive 62-47 margin when the teams last played back in January. Can Fort Bend Austin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
