Softball Recap: Rock Ridge Comes Up Short

After flying high against Park View two weeks ago, Rock Ridge came back down to earth. The Phoenix lost 16-6 to the John Champe Knights on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Rock Ridge saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Riya Cherukuri, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another was Kyra Young, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.

Rock Ridge has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. John Champe's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rock Ridge will host Handley at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for John Champe, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Freedom at 6:30 p.m.
