Recap: Marcus Marauders vs. McKinney Lions
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Marcus Marauders can now relate to. They suffered a tough 52-31 loss at the hands of McKinney on Friday. Marcus was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-10.
Despite the loss, Marcus still got an impressive performance from Brock Golwas, who rushed for 73 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Golwas really tore up the turf during one magnificent 70-yard run. Another player making a difference was Karic Grennan, who picked up 83 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead McKinney to victory, but perhaps none more so than Godspower Nwawuihe , who rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. McKinney also got help from Khali Best who showed off his sure hands for 100 receiving yards.
McKinney's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Makhi Frazier was especially locked on to Marcus' QB and sacked him twice.
This is the second loss in a row for Marcus and nudges their season record down to 4-7. As for McKinney, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.
Marcus does not have any more games scheduled as of now. McKinney will face off against Highland Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Highland Park is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
