Basketball Game Preview: Gerstell Academy vs. St. Mary's Saints

Gerstell Academy will head out on the road to challenge the St. Mary's Saints at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

Gerstell Academy is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Severn School just ended the team's eight-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell 49-39 to the Admirals.

Meanwhile, St. Mary's posted their biggest win since December 6, 2024 on Wednesday. They took their contest with ease, bagging an 83-56 victory over St. John's Catholic Prep. The Saints have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Gerstell Academy's loss dropped their record down to 9-2. As for St. Mary's, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-9.

Gerstell Academy strolled past St. Mary's in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 by a score of 61-44. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gerstell Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
