Basketball Recap: Fairfield Sets Scoring Season-High Against Johnson

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fairfield). They claimed a resounding 77-36 victory over the Johnson Warriors. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 339th, while the Warriors are ranked 1073rd), the result on Wednesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fairfield got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Johnnie Jones out in front who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten boards. What's more, Jones also racked up three assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Amarre Davis, who went 5-for-11 on his way to 13 points and four steals.

Fairfield was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Fairfield pushed their record up to 19-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points over those games. As for Johnson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 10-18 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fairfield will take on Florin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fairfield is facing Florin at the right time seeing as Florin is stuck on a 15-game losing streak. As for Johnson, they will square off against Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Johnson will also cruise into their next match with the timing on their side: Valley will have lost five straight heading into Friday's contest.
