Preview: Aspermont Hornets vs. Paint Creek Pirates

Aspermont is 10-0 against Paint Creek since February of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Aspermont Hornets will head out on the road to challenge the Paint Creek Pirates at 7:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Aspermont suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 76-44 loss at the hands of Newcastle. Aspermont has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite their defeat, Aspermont saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Carson Guidry, who scored six points along with six steals and five rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Guidry is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Seth Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.

Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Paint Creek, who are still winless after their eighth game. They were outmatched by Knox City on the road and fell 82-10. Paint Creek was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-6.

Aspermont has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-9 record this season. As for Paint Creek, their defeat was their ninth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-8.

Aspermont skirted past Paint Creek 2-0 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Aspermont since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
