Basketball Game Preview: Forbush Falcons vs. Wheatmore Warriors

The Forbush Falcons will head out to square off against the Wheatmore Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

On Monday, Forbush ended up a good deal behind Elkin and lost 75-56. The Falcons haven't had much luck with the Buckin' Elks recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Despite the loss, Forbush got top-tier performance from Mason Dudley, who dropped a double-double with 26 points and 13 boards. Another player making a difference was Matthew Bryant, who went 6-for-10 on his way to 13 points.

Meanwhile, Wheatmore hadn't done well against Southwestern Randolph recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Warriors managed a 44-39 victory over the Cougars. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.

Wheatmore found their leader in sophomore Jordan Starkey, who shot 71% from the field en route to 18 points and five rebounds. Starkey continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Collin Dodd was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.

Forbush's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Wheatmore, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
