Soccer Recap: Monroe Takes a Loss + How To Watch

If Monroe was riding high fresh off their 5-1 takedown of Forest Hills on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Redhawks fell just short of the Independence Patriots by a score of 3-2 on Monday. While losing is never fun, Monroe can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 244th, while Independence are ranked 87th).

Jesus Quizapa-Sanchez wasn't going to let Independence walk away unscathed as he scored both of Monroe's goals, bringing his season total up to 30 goals.

Monroe's defeat ended a three-match streak of away wins and brought them to 9-6-4. As for Independence, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 10-3.

Monroe wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next match, a 4-0 victory against West Stanly on the 15th. As for Independence, they will face off against Chambers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
