Basketball Recap: Long Takes a Loss

Long lost against Ariton two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Long Rebels fell to the Ariton Purple Cats 40-36. While losing is never fun, the Rebels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 354th, while the Purple Cats are ranked 153rd).

Ariton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elizabeth Woodfaulk led the charge by going 6 of 11 en route to 13 points and three steals. Nya Allen was another key player, putting up 12 points and six boards.

Long dropped their record down to 4-19 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Ariton, their victory bumped their record up to 13-4.

Long has already played their next contest, a 34-28 loss against Ariton on the 30th. As for Ariton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 51-48 win against Northside Methodist Academy on the 28th.
