Baseball Recap: Wiregrass Ranch Drops Highest Score of Season Against Zephyrhills

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wiregrass Ranch). They were the clear victor by a 15-2 margin over the Zephyrhills Bulldogs on Friday. The Bulls haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Dillon Singleton looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave him a new career-low.

At the plate, Wiregrass Ranch let Pedro Castro and KJ Cain run wild. Castro scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Cain scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Castro a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Carson Kirkland, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Wiregrass Ranch always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Wiregrass Ranch's record now sits at 4-7. As for Zephyrhills, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-9.

Wiregrass Ranch and Zephyrhills could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Wiregrass Ranch (ranked 376th) will meet East Lake (ranked 68th) at 7:00 p.m. on March 26th. Wiregrass Ranch is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. Meanwhile, Zephyrhills will face off against Largo at 7:00 p.m. on March 24th down 362 places (498 vs. 136).
