Football Recap: Edgewood Piles Up the Points Against Conneaut

Edgewood lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Conneaut, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's contest. The Warriors simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Spartans 49-14. That looming 49-14 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Warriors yet this season.

Edgewood was led to victory by JJ Dufour and Jaiven Pope. Dufour threw for 172 yards and three touchdowns, while Pope rushed for 107 yards and a pair of scores. Dufour is becoming a predictor of the Warriors' success: when he posts at least three passing touchdowns the team is 3-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Another big playmaker for Edgewood was Devon Sanchez, who returned a punt for a touchdown.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Sanchez, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Edgewood didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Riley Baldwin and Zaiden Fox.

The win got Edgewood back to even at 4-4. As for Conneaut, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.
