Basketball Recap: East Davidson Comes Up Short

East Davidson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Ledford Panthers, falling 76-54. While losing is never fun, the Golden Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 413th, while the Panthers are ranked 79th).

Ledford was led to victory by Adam Grier and Bryson Allred. Grier went 5 for 12 on his way to 17 points in addition to eight rebounds and seven assists, while Allred dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 boards. With that strong performance, Allred is now averaging an impressive 10 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Peele, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 13 points.

East Davidson's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Ledford, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-0.

East Davidson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 72-64 defeat against Lexington on the 10th. As for Ledford, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 66-59 victory against Mount Airy on the 10th.
