Basketball Game Preview: South Stokes Sauras vs. East Surry Cardinals

South Stokes and East Surry are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The South Stokes Sauras will head out on the road to take on the East Surry Cardinals at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. South Stokes will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.

On Friday, South Stokes beat East Wilkes 71-61. Given the Sauras' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Cardinals are ranked 331st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but East Surry ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They escaped with a win against Wilkes Central by the margin of a single free throw, 58-57.

South Stokes' victory was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.9 points per game. As for East Surry, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-10.

South Stokes strolled past East Surry in their previous meeting on Wednesday by a score of 81-67. The rematch might be a little tougher for South Stokes since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
