Baseball Game Preview: Firth Cougars vs. Wendell Trojans

The Firth Cougars will challenge the Wendell Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Firth will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

On Saturday, Firth made easy work of American Falls and carried off a 15-5 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won four contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Tonk Perry made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Perry was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Quinton Hall was incredible, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Grant Vasquez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.

Firth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Wendell fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Marsing on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 14-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Huskies. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Firth pushed their record up to 6-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Wendell, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Firth took their win against Wendell in their previous matchup on Thursday by a conclusive 21-3 score. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
