Football Recap: Whitesboro Comes Up Short + How To Watch

It was a proper cat-fight when Whitesboro challenged Commerce on Friday. The Bearcats took a 35-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. The Bearcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Whitesboro lost, don't look at Colt Fagan. Despite the final result, he rushed for 75 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also threw for 210 yards and one TD. Camron Howard also helped out with an impressive 87 receiving yards.

Aidan Brown was nothing short of spectacular for Commerce: he rushed for 131 yards and three scores on only 13 carries, and also threw for 227 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 77.3% of his passes. Brown is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 131 every time he's taken the field this season. Malik Garcia was Brown's top target, picking up 99 receiving yards and two TDs.

This is the second loss in a row for Whitesboro and nudges their season record down to 2-2. As for Commerce, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Whitesboro will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Life Oak Cliff at 7:30 p.m. on October 3. The contest will give the Bearcats their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Commerce, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 51-13 victory against Winnsboro on the 26th.
