Volleyball Recap: Lincoln Northeast Comes Up Short

Lincoln Northeast was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Gretna East Griffins. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rockets of the 2-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Lincoln Northeast sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 19-25, 25-14.

Their offense was headlined by Delaney Vohland and Brynna Renard, who picked up five kills apiece. They were helped by McKinzie Peterson and Patricia Mozee, who contributed seven assists each. Vohland was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Lincoln Northeast's defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Gretna East, with the victory, they broke their three-match losing streak and moved their record to 9-12.

Lincoln Northeast didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Standing Bear on the 4th. As for Gretna East, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Lincoln East on the 4th.
