Softball Recap: Whiting Takes a Loss

Whiting had lost five straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 6-6 to make it six. They came up short against the Illiana Christian Vikings, falling 10-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-1 on Monday.

As for Illiana Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-6 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by ten runs or more this season.

For Illiana Christian's part, the team relied heavily on Lydia VanderWoude, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Lexy Miedema, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Whiting will challenge Marquette Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Illiana Christian, they will face off against Lowell at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Red Devils' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
