Softball Game Preview: University Wildcats vs. Animo Venice Pirates

The University Wildcats will square off against the Animo Venice Pirates at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Animo Venice took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on University, who comes in off a win.

University is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Thursday. They put the hurt on Crossroads with a sharp 17-1 victory.

Kayla Anzora made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Anzora was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, five RBI, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, University got a massive performance out of Ditagi Smith, who went 1-for-3 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Devyn Vudmaska was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

University always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Animo Venice came up short against Harbor Teacher on Friday, falling 14-4.
