Baseball Recap: Cornersville Comes Up Short

Cornersville lost against Mt. Pleasant last Monday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Cornersville Bulldogs fell just short of the Mt. Pleasant Tigers by a score of 4-3. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Garrett Schillig made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-2. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Caden Ostermann also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Cornersville's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Mt. Pleasant, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. We've got a battle between Bulldogs coming up. Hickman County has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.8 runs per game on average), something Cornersville will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Mt. Pleasant, they will be playing at home against Richland at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mt. Pleasant is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.
