For the first time this season, Spruce Creek will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the DeLand Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are still undefeated after five games, but that won't be the case come Friday.
Last Friday, Spruce Creek was able to grind out a solid victory over Titusville, taking the game 29-22. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Hawks' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Terriers are ranked 137th).

A big part of Spruce Creek's win came down to the chemistry between Pj Miller and his top target Cameron Oxendine. Miller threw for 285 yards and four TDs while picking up 11.4 yards per attempt while Oxendine picked up 201 receiving yards and three scores. Oxendine's receiving production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 102 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, DeLand never let their opponents score on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Deltona 39-0. That looming 39-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Bulldogs yet this season.
DeLand's win came from a few key players Spruce Creek will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Marceles Carey, who rushed for 96 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries, and also caught one score. Another player making a difference was Taihj Moore, who rushed for 120 yards on only 13 carries.
DeLand was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 292 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 175 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
DeLand's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Spruce Creek, their win bumped their record up to an identical 5-0.
Friday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant wideouts against one another: Oxendine and Carey. Oxendine just won't slow down this season and has caught 10 touchdowns while averaging 146.8 receiving yards per game. Carey has been a dominant force too and has caught 2 touchdowns while averaging 48.2 receiving yards per game.
Everything came up roses for Spruce Creek against DeLand when the teams last played back in September of 2024, as the squad secured a 48-13 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Moore, who rushed for 265 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 16.6 yards per carry.
