Basketball Recap: Zoey Leners' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Upsala over Osakis

Upsala lost against Osakis back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Upsala Cardinals fell just short of the Osakis Silverstreaks by a score of 39-36. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Upsala lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Zoey Leners, who posted four points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Alexa Pilarski, who earned nine points and three steals.

Upsala's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Osakis, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 9-6.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Upsala Cardinals challenge the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Upsala is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.1 points per game this season. As for Osakis, they will host Staples-Motley at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
