Football Game Preview: Canyon View Jaguars vs. Kellis Cougars + Official Tickets

The Canyon View Jaguars will head out on the road to square off against the Kellis Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Canyon View is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Desert Edge just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 29-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Scorpions.

The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Brady Scott and Blake Roskopf. Roskopf had a great game and threw for 370 yards and four touchdowns. Meanwhile, Scott did his best for the losing side, throwing for 126 yards and three TDs.

Canyon View didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Brady Grizzell. Another thorn in Desert Edge's side was Rece Landis, who made 18 total tackles (1.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, Kellis ended up a good deal behind Tolleson on Thursday and lost 21-7.

Canyon View will have to keep a close watch on Robert Cordova and Hector Cisneros, a pair of players who had a big impact on Kellis' prior game. Cordova rushed for 78 yards and one score, while Cisneros rushed for 47 yards.

Canyon View suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 4-2. As for Kellis, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Everything came up roses for Canyon View against Kellis when the teams last played back in November of 2021, as the squad secured a 56-21 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Cougars' Issac Matthews, who rushed for 101 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
