Recap: Fike Demons vs. Currituck County Knights
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Fike Demons had no problem doing just that on Friday. They came out on top against Currituck County by a score of 37-25. The win was familiar territory for Fike who now have seven in a row.
Bud Woodard had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 330 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.4 yards per carry, and also picked up 49 receiving yards. Woodard's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Fike's defense and their six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Yamir DaGraca and Jamari Hill who racked up four sacks between them.
Despite the loss, Currituck County still got an impressive performance from Damon Duke, who picked up 166 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Devin Duke was another key contributor, throwing for 224 yards and two touchdowns.
Fike has yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 9-3 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.4 points per game. As for Currituck County, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-4.
Fike will head out on the road to face off against Seventy-First at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Seventy-First knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Fike likes a good challenge. Currituck County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
