Softball Game Preview: Tuscarawas Valley Trojans vs. Carrollton Warriors

The Tuscarawas Valley Trojans will challenge the Carrollton Warriors at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in Tuscarawas Valley's favor as the squad sits on 11 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Carrollton has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road.

Tuscarawas Valley fell victim to Sandy Valley and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cardinals. Having soared to a lofty 21 runs in the game before, the Trojans' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Tuscarawas Valley saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyra Garbrandt, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

West Branch hit Carrollton with a five-run third inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. Carrollton fell just short of West Branch by a score of 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Carrollton has suffered since May 6, 2024.

Jordan Pittman made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Juliaunna Miller was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and two RBI.

Having lost for the first time this season, Tuscarawas Valley fell to 18-1. As for Carrollton, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.

Tuscarawas Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over Carrollton in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 16-11. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
